LOG: In Need of Assistance

York would be lying if he said he wasn't surprised that Delta had called him so soon to arrange to meet up again. That's three times in the last two weeks the man has called for company despite his insistence that he's a busy guy. Not that York's complaining, he enjoys Delta's company more each time they see each other, but he is surprised.

He's on time. Well, Delta seems to be making the effort, the least he can do is return the favor. Once he's inside, he removes his helmet and looks around. Common Ground is a good place, he's enjoyed it's coffee and food a fair few times, and of course it has the delicious, rich scent that comes with any good coffee shop.

Spotting Delta, he weaves through the tables towards him and sits down in the chair on the other side of the table, smiling. 'Hey there.'

Delta takes his own helmet off and places it next to York's. They look good together. The colors seem right.

"Give me the tour?"

'Sure.' He sets the bag down near the door and takes Delta through to the living room. 'Here you have your standard living space, equiped with a plushy sofa and chair, TV and movie player and a delightful little table to hold your treats and remotes.'

"Oh god, that sofa looks new," Delta groans. And by new he means not twenty years old and stained and torn everywhere.

'Not really, just rarely used. Hopefully you can get some good use out of it while you're here.' He's never been to the Ai household, but he can imagine what the sofa must look like with so many of them using it, some of those being in single digits.

[protective_logic]

"Sit with me?" Delta asks, moving to leave the bag of treats on the table. "Just for a minute?"

[depthlesslock]

'Course. The rest of the tour can wait.' He sits down on one side of the sofa, leaving plenty of room for Delta.

[protective_logic]

Delta sits down as well, and sighs with pleasure at how comfortable it is. "I can't believe you just have a place like this."

[depthlesslock]

'It's necessary,' he explains, deciding not to tell Delta that he has two. 'Sometimes jobs go wrong and people might be following us or it isn't safe to go back to base. We have to make sure the threat doesn't spread.'

[protective_logic]

"Ah," he says, letting himself slide down the couch just a bit so his head just BARELY rests against York's shoulder.

York glances down, smiling ever so slightly and glad that Delta is on his right side so he can see him.

[protective_logic]

"Thank you for this," he whispers, closing his eyes. "I've never... Don't go, please. I don't know what to do if I'm not there."

[depthlesslock]

'I'm right here,' he promises. He doesn't have a job for the rest of the day, he can send a message to Wash saying he's out.

[protective_logic]

"Thank you," Delta whispers. "I just... I don't know what I am anymore."

[depthlesslock]

He sighs, trying to work this out. 'You're still you, just... I dunno. A different side of you? You're still their brother, that won't change. It's actually biologically impossible.'

[protective_logic]

"I don't know how to be anything other than their brother, their guardian, and someone who plays with financial numbers," Delta points out. He doesn't even really have a hobby.

[depthlesslock]

'Then it's about time you started messing around and finding out.' He stretches out a bit which happens to increase the contact between them a bit.

[protective_logic]

Oh, that is nice. How long since he's cuddled up to someone other than the littles? So comforting. Eyes still closed he rests against York. "How do you find things you like? Hobbies and such?"

'Just chance, I guess. I started off with puzzles and then there was a rubick's cube in the toy box at school. It kind of went from there.' He wants to cuddle up closer with Delta, but he can be patient. For once.

"I love puzzles," Delta admits, his voice soothing out, clearly he's tired. "I love puzzles so much. My school, it had a system that showed holopuzzles. I played with them when I was free in the library."

[depthlesslock]

'Really? Cool!' He looks down at him, grinning. 'I've got some puzzles here if you want to play with them.'

[protective_logic]

"I hope they're logic based and not tongue-twisters," he chuckles, still not opening his eyes. He's so warm here, next to York.

[depthlesslock]

'Eh, there's a mix,' he admits. 'Want me to get them? Or do you not want to be disturbed yet?' York's not sure he wants to disturb him, this is the most relaxed he's seen Delta look all day.

[protective_logic]

"Don't go just yet," Delta found himself pleading. "No one has done something like this for me since I was a teen."

[depthlesslock]

'Don't the kids give you hugs?' But he stays right where he is, even tugs Delta a little closer.

[protective_logic]

"It's not the same as having someone who cares about me being there, watching over me," Delta insists. Maybe York doesn't know, but Delta has memories of this. They don't feel so far away either.
