LOG: In Need of Assistance

York would be lying if he said he wasn't surprised that Delta had called him so soon to arrange to meet up again. That's three times in the last two weeks the man has called for company despite his insistence that he's a busy guy. Not that York's complaining, he enjoys Delta's company more each time they see each other, but he is surprised.

He's on time. Well, Delta seems to be making the effort, the least he can do is return the favor. Once he's inside, he removes his helmet and looks around. Common Ground is a good place, he's enjoyed it's coffee and food a fair few times, and of course it has the delicious, rich scent that comes with any good coffee shop.

Spotting Delta, he weaves through the tables towards him and sits down in the chair on the other side of the table, smiling. 'Hey there.'

Left? Dead? Something else? If it was anyone else, York would ask, but Delta's had a really shit day and he doesn't want to make it worse. 'I'm sorry.'

"We've... learned to exist without him," Delta says vaguely. "Omega took over."

York nods, wishing for the hundredth time today that he could hug Delta. He'll make sure the man has a blanket when they get to his house. 'And you helped.'

[protective_logic]

"I tried. I don't know how much help I was anymore. Things... changed I guess. My role. But you wanted to hear about my family. Omega... he wanted to be a doctor."

'I'm sure you did help a lot,' he assures him. 'A doctor, huh?' He wouldn't have guessed that, but then again he doesn't know the guy.

"He wanted so much," Delta sighs. "He'll never have the chance. Instead he gets to blow people up. It's just not right. It's not fair."

'There might still be a way...' Okay, so he can't think of one, but perhaps someone else can? He'll mention it to the team. Florida might have an idea.

[protective_logic]

Delta shakes his head. "We have a family. What that means is sacrifice. Omega and I give up a lot so the others can... well, they can maybe be anything."

[depthlesslock]

York finishes his lemonade while Delta's talking and sets the empty glass down on the table. 'That's unbelieveably selfess,' he says, a little in awe.

[protective_logic]

"It's what we can give them," Delta sighs. "We can't give them an easy life. We can't give them a house where things don't break down, or light up shoes or any number of things. But if we can give them something, it's a future. We fight so hard for that. Sigma... he could be an amazing chemist. He's trying. Epsilon..."

Delta laughs and smiles and shakes his head. "I don't know. Epsilon's a mystery. I love my brother but wow can he be flighty."

'Sigma talked about his chemistry a bit when we met up,' he remembers. 'He seems really into it, and it sounds like he owes the chance to you and Omega. You're a good man, D. A genuinely good man.'

He doesn't know Epsilon. Though at this point he could probably guess the names of Delta's siblings if he had the Greek alphabet in front of him. 'A bit all over the place is he?'

"Courier," Delta explains. "He's everywhere, all the time. He loves that. Being everywhere and doing everything and just... searching."

[depthlesslock]

'That's cool,' he says, nodding. 'Searching? For... anything in particular?'

[protective_logic]

"Alpha," Delta admits, his voice distant.

[depthlesslock]

'Oh.' Still alive then. Did he leave? Was he kidnapped?

[protective_logic]

"It's not easy," Delta sighs. "Seeing him look for someone who might not be there."

[depthlesslock]

'Do you think he might find him?' he asks carefully.

[protective_logic]

"I don't want to speculate," Delta admits quietly. He doesn't want to think about it.

[depthlesslock]

York nods and sits back, unaware he'd leaned forward until then. 'That's fair enough.'

[protective_logic]

Delta taps at his empty glass, trying to think of something else.

"Gamma's a computer genius. We got him into a special high school for it."

[depthlesslock]

'That's awesome, I hope he does well,' he says with a smile. 'How old is he?'

[protective_logic]

"Still young," Delta laughs. "And a hellion to boot. I think he might be trying to take over the internet."

He smiles at the thought, shaking his head. His expression is never bright as when he's talking about his brothers.

York chuckles, half at the words and half at Delta's expression. 'I'll keep a look out for him and be sure to not join any rebels against him when he becomes our internet overlord,' he teases.

[protective_logic]

"You better not," Delta tells him very seriously. "I can't date someone rebelling against him."

York opens his mouth, then shuts it as what Delta just said hits him. 'Wait, you mean...?'
