LOG: In Need of Assistance

York would be lying if he said he wasn't surprised that Delta had called him so soon to arrange to meet up again. That's three times in the last two weeks the man has called for company despite his insistence that he's a busy guy. Not that York's complaining, he enjoys Delta's company more each time they see each other, but he is surprised.

He's on time. Well, Delta seems to be making the effort, the least he can do is return the favor. Once he's inside, he removes his helmet and looks around. Common Ground is a good place, he's enjoyed it's coffee and food a fair few times, and of course it has the delicious, rich scent that comes with any good coffee shop.

Spotting Delta, he weaves through the tables towards him and sits down in the chair on the other side of the table, smiling. 'Hey there.'

"Wonderful,"Delta grins. His hair is still dripping wet but he looks dry, and he's dressed up in his pajamas.

"So, you going to watch me cook?"

'Good to hear.' He uses long showers to bring him back after a long jobs. Hopefully they gave Delta a similar release.

'Unless you get incredibly uncomfortable with me staring, yes.' They can talk while Delta becomes the official best cook in the safehouse.

"I think I wouldn't mind the company," Delta smiles and moves to the kitchen with the stuff. "Do you have a wok, or must I use a skillet?"

York follows him through with the granted permission. 'I don't have a wok, sorry. Anything cooked in it is too advanced for my lesser skills.'

"I'll figure it out then," Delta assures him. It won't be as easy, but he'll handle it. Is handling it. He rummages through York's cabinets and drawers until he comes out with the most respectable skillet York has.

'So resourceful.' Out of all the rooms in this house, the kitchen is probably the worst. York's attempts at cooking are sub-par at best and there's various marks around the room from one or another of his failed attempts to make something.

"Here, unpack the whole stuff so I can figure this out," Delta says quite simply. He needs to find a knife and cutting board.

'You got it.' He takes one of the bags and starts getting the food out of it and taking them out of their individual packets.

"Is there a knife and cutting board?" Delta asks. Surely the man has that much.

[depthlesslock]

'Yep.' He roots around in the cupboard and draw until he finds them and brings them over to rhe counter for Delta.

[protective_logic]

"Do you know how to cut an onion into wedges?" Delta asks, looking over his shoulder at his boyfriend.

[depthlesslock]

'If you tell me, I'm sure I could do it,' he says. 'Just remind me which way you cut.'

[protective_logic]

Delta rolls his eyes. "Peel it and cut it in half. Then cut thin wedges out, from one side to the other. No thicker than your finger."

'Yes, sir,' he says, grinning at the eye roll and saluting before turning to the task.

Delta cleans the skillet a bit and then looks over the other ingredients. Yes, this is a good spread of vegetables for everythign he wants. He approves.

"If your eyes have problems with watering, I'll take over."

[depthlesslock]

'Nah, I'm good,' he says, dumping the peel into a pile and starting to chop the vegetable up. 'Besides, I'll only have half the problem.'

Delta freezes at that, and then turns to look at York. He wants to ask. But... well, that would be rude.

"Regardless, do you have a candle here?"

[depthlesslock]

He politely ignores the stare and keeps cutting the onion.

'A candle?' he repeats.

[protective_logic]

"The smoke from the candle helps keep the tears down," Delta answers quite simply. "It makes this easier."

[depthlesslock]

'Huh, I didn't know that,' he admits. 'Don't think I've got any candles though. I'll manage.' His right eye's watering up a bit now, but it's not too bad.

[protective_logic]

"Enjoy then," Delta informs him, moving to find another knife she could cut other things. There isn't another cutting board so he gets down a ceramic plate and cuts on it.

It doesn't take too long before he's got rhe onion cut up, though he's leaning back to avoid the worst of the fumes. His eye's still watering.

'Okay, done,' he says. 'Where do you want this.'

[protective_logic]

"Move it into a bowl so I can chop other things," Delta instructs. "I'll handle everything else from here. Can you make coffee? Is there coffee?"

He gets a bowl out of the cupboard and drops the onion pieces into it, setting it on the counter by Delta.

'D, if there's one thing I know how to make and never run out of, it's coffee.'

"Bless you," Delta smiles. "Show me while I cut up the rest of these veggies."
