LOG: In Need of Assistance

York would be lying if he said he wasn't surprised that Delta had called him so soon to arrange to meet up again. That's three times in the last two weeks the man has called for company despite his insistence that he's a busy guy. Not that York's complaining, he enjoys Delta's company more each time they see each other, but he is surprised.

He's on time. Well, Delta seems to be making the effort, the least he can do is return the favor. Once he's inside, he removes his helmet and looks around. Common Ground is a good place, he's enjoyed it's coffee and food a fair few times, and of course it has the delicious, rich scent that comes with any good coffee shop.

Spotting Delta, he weaves through the tables towards him and sits down in the chair on the other side of the table, smiling. 'Hey there.'

Delta rolls his eyes. "Peel it and cut it in half. Then cut thin wedges out, from one side to the other. No thicker than your finger."

'Yes, sir,' he says, grinning at the eye roll and saluting before turning to the task.

Delta cleans the skillet a bit and then looks over the other ingredients. Yes, this is a good spread of vegetables for everythign he wants. He approves.

"If your eyes have problems with watering, I'll take over."

'Nah, I'm good,' he says, dumping the peel into a pile and starting to chop the vegetable up. 'Besides, I'll only have half the problem.'

Delta freezes at that, and then turns to look at York. He wants to ask. But... well, that would be rude.

"Regardless, do you have a candle here?"

He politely ignores the stare and keeps cutting the onion.

'A candle?' he repeats.

[protective_logic]

"The smoke from the candle helps keep the tears down," Delta answers quite simply. "It makes this easier."

[depthlesslock]

'Huh, I didn't know that,' he admits. 'Don't think I've got any candles though. I'll manage.' His right eye's watering up a bit now, but it's not too bad.

"Enjoy then," Delta informs him, moving to find another knife she could cut other things. There isn't another cutting board so he gets down a ceramic plate and cuts on it.

It doesn't take too long before he's got rhe onion cut up, though he's leaning back to avoid the worst of the fumes. His eye's still watering.

'Okay, done,' he says. 'Where do you want this.'

"Move it into a bowl so I can chop other things," Delta instructs. "I'll handle everything else from here. Can you make coffee? Is there coffee?"

He gets a bowl out of the cupboard and drops the onion pieces into it, setting it on the counter by Delta.

'D, if there's one thing I know how to make and never run out of, it's coffee.'

"Bless you," Delta smiles. "Show me while I cut up the rest of these veggies."

[depthlesslock]

'How do you take it?' he asks, getting out two mugs, the coffee, pot and kettle.

[protective_logic]

"Black, two sugar," Delta answers. Creamer is an abomination. Unless it's flavored like mint or chocolate.

[depthlesslock]

'No problem.' He was getting the sugar out for himself anyway. It's not a two sugar day, so he'll stick with his regular one. Two is for when he needs an extra boost or the sweetness.

"Thank you," Delta says as he turns his entire attention to the quick cleaning and chopping of the things he needs for dinner. "What sort of coffee do you have here?"

'Milayan,' he replies, spooning the ground beans into the coffee pot, under the filter.

[protective_logic]

Delta pauses, staring at his boyfriend in honest shock. "That's way better quality than I've ever had before."

[depthlesslock]

'Then I hope you enjoy the treat. It's good stuff.' The kettle boils and he pours the water into the pot, waiting for the beans to release their goodness to the water before pressing the filter down.

"It smells amazing," Delta says warmly as he returns to preparing their meal.

'Wait until you taste it,' he says, pouring it into the two mugs and adding two sugars to one and one sugar to the other.

[protective_logic]

"I can't wait," Delta assures him as he finishes chopping up the pepper and moves on to the zucchini.

[depthlesslock]

'Don't burn your tongue,' he warns, brining the two mugs over and setting the one with two sugars down by Delta.

[protective_logic]

"I'm used to drinking just short of straight from the pot, I'll be fine," Delta assures him, not even reaching for a sip just yet. He'll let it cool off.
