LOG: In Need of Assistance

York would be lying if he said he wasn't surprised that Delta had called him so soon to arrange to meet up again. That's three times in the last two weeks the man has called for company despite his insistence that he's a busy guy. Not that York's complaining, he enjoys Delta's company more each time they see each other, but he is surprised.

He's on time. Well, Delta seems to be making the effort, the least he can do is return the favor. Once he's inside, he removes his helmet and looks around. Common Ground is a good place, he's enjoyed it's coffee and food a fair few times, and of course it has the delicious, rich scent that comes with any good coffee shop.

Spotting Delta, he weaves through the tables towards him and sits down in the chair on the other side of the table, smiling. 'Hey there.'

He sighs and runs one hand through his hair, then gets it back into rough shape.

'That meal,' he says. 'You said you'd cook me a meal. If you must, consider that your repayment.'

"Yeah," Delta sighs. Except that... was supposed to be about them and not this. York just doesn't get it. And there is no point in explaining.

He still doesn't seem happy. 'What's wrong?'

[protective_logic]

"Nothing," Delta says. He's a master of bottling things up. "I'm just a bit tired again."

[depthlesslock]

He frowns slightly, unconvinced. 'D...'

[protective_logic]

"And I need to go out and buy some food," Delta notes, distracted.

[depthlesslock]

'Delta,' he says, a little stronger. 'I already said I'd do that.'

[protective_logic]

"You don't know what i need," Delta points out.

[depthlesslock]

'So make a list,' he reasons.

[protective_logic]

"But you don't know which brands I use," Delta points out. Mostly he'd intended to go, find what was on sale, and acquire some things to go along with the rice and beans he'd get to survive on.

'The make me the most detailed shopping list you can. It's fine.'

God York was being reasonable...

"You won't go there and buy the cheapest things imaginable to keep you alive," Delta whispers.

[depthlesslock]

So that's where this was coming from.

'No, I won't.' He's not going to deny it. 'But I've had to do that before. It's hard.'

[protective_logic]

"It is," Delta says, looking away from him. "It's what I can afford."

[depthlesslock]

'I get that. But since I'm gonna be buying it, I can get better brands. Once you're getting your own things, by all means, get what you want. Just this once, however, I'm stocking up my safe house with the food I buy.'

[protective_logic]

"I... okay," Delta says softly. Because he doesn't know how to convince York that he doesn't have to do this.

[depthlesslock]

He knows he doesn't have to, but he wants to. Let him spoil his boyfriend for a bit, Delta's had it extra tough lately. 'Thank you.'

[protective_logic]

"Rice. Black beans. A bag of oranges. Other than that... I suppose anything will do."

[depthlesslock]

'I've got rice, I think. I'll double check. Any greens? I don't have any of those. Including the carrots now.'

[protective_logic]

"I can get buy with a multivitamin instead," Delta shrugs. "Until I can afford a bit more."

[depthlesslock]

York feels like facepalming. 'I'm buying it.'

[protective_logic]

"Your point?" Delta asks.

[depthlesslock]

'You're getting greens.'

[protective_logic]

Delta shrugs and stands. "If you insist, then I cannot stop you."

'You need good food,' he says.
