LOG: In Need of Assistance

York would be lying if he said he wasn't surprised that Delta had called him so soon to arrange to meet up again. That's three times in the last two weeks the man has called for company despite his insistence that he's a busy guy. Not that York's complaining, he enjoys Delta's company more each time they see each other, but he is surprised.

He's on time. Well, Delta seems to be making the effort, the least he can do is return the favor. Once he's inside, he removes his helmet and looks around. Common Ground is a good place, he's enjoyed it's coffee and food a fair few times, and of course it has the delicious, rich scent that comes with any good coffee shop.

Spotting Delta, he weaves through the tables towards him and sits down in the chair on the other side of the table, smiling. 'Hey there.'

'That much is a given. I meant how far is he likely to go to look for you? Just him, or will he get help?'

[protective_logic]

"I... don't know," Delta admitted. He's never done this before.

York sighs, more out of sympathy than anything else. This isn't fair on Delta, the whole situation sucks.

'What do you want to do?' he asks, trying to sound softer than before.

[protective_logic]

Like he had to explain himself to York. Still...

"I want to sit down and pretend the world isn't falling apart around me."

Damn, someone give him a hug. York would, but Delta probably wouldn't appreciate it.

'Do you want to take a few minutes out before doing anything else?' he offers.

[protective_logic]

"Did you miss the part where I need to find a job and a place to stay?" Delta asked with a sigh. He wanted so badly to rub his temples, but he couldn't. Why was this happening.

[depthlesslock]

'We wouldn't be having this conversation if I had,' he points out. 'You've got an offer on a place to stay. You can either take it or leave it and I can help you find somewhere else, but I want to make sure you're going to be okay.'

[protective_logic]

"Why?" Delta demands quietly. Why is this happening anyway?

[depthlesslock]

'Why? Because it matters to me that you're alright. Or as alright as you can be given the s given what's going on. It sounds like you have a hard time in general and now things have gotten really shitty and since I care about you, your wellbeing is important to me and I want to try and make this as least shitty for you as possible. ...And I'll admit that telling you what I do might not have been the best start, sorry.'

[protective_logic]

"Yes, telling me you are a mercenary when my life is being torn apart by that work is definitely not the best way to handle it!" Delta snaps, his hand tightening on his bag. "How do I even trust you?"

[depthlesslock]

'Because... hell, I don't know, Delta.' Telepathy would be nice right now, so Delta could see he means well. 'Because I told you? If I wanted to do something, I'd have kept it a secret.'

[protective_logic]

"I'm can we just go somewhere to talk that my brother wouldn't think to look for me?"

[depthlesslock]

That's potentially hopeful. 'Sure. Have you got somewhere in mind?'

[protective_logic]

"No," Delta admits with a sigh. "I've... never really gone somewhere other than where we needed to go."

[depthlesslock]

He nods, thinking. 'Park? Cafe? Library or some such building?'

[protective_logic]

"He'd check libraries," Delta admits. "And the park nearest our home is a frequent visited location."

[depthlesslock]

He considers a different park, but the nearest one is likely the one Delta mentioned and the closest one after that is even further than his safehouse.

'How about a bar?' he suggests. Delta doesn't seem the drinking type, maybe Omega wouldn't think to look there.

[protective_logic]

"Bar?" Delta asks, shocked. "I... I don't drink."

[depthlesslock]

'Yeah, I figured, which is why Omega probably won't look for you there, right? Don't worry, you don't have to get anything. Though they do do just water or juice if you want.'

[protective_logic]

"That's... a dreadfully good point," Delta sighs. "Alright then."

[depthlesslock]

'Okay.' He starts off down the street, going slowly so Delta can catch up.

[protective_logic]

There is little Delta can do beyond follow. He has no where else to go. So... follow he does, a few paces behind York.

[depthlesslock]

The angle is awkward and annoying and he has to keep his head slightly turned so he can check Delta's stil there, but he doesn't say anything about it.

As much as he'd like to go to his favorite bar, he doubts Delta would appreciate a place frequented by mercenaries. Plus he doesn't want anyone he knows to see them. So he makes their way to The Hearth which, while good, is less well known.

The closer they get to the bar, the closer Delta sneaks toward York. The last time he was somewhere they served alcohol was a club. Not Errera, of course. But a club Omega had taken him to for his twenty-first because he wanted to experience it. Getting felt up by that drunk guy had not... been pleasant. At least his boyfriend should protect him, right?

"You think they really will serve me juice?"

[depthlesslock]

It takes a while for York to realise Delta's closing the distance between them and the realisation makes him smile a little. With any luck they won't part ways forever after this. Even if they break up, maybe Delta can frgive him enough to be friends.

'Yeah, sure. They have juice anyway to mix into cocktails and stuff, but they'll easily give it to you straight if you ask.'
