LOG: In Need of Assistance

York would be lying if he said he wasn't surprised that Delta had called him so soon to arrange to meet up again. That's three times in the last two weeks the man has called for company despite his insistence that he's a busy guy. Not that York's complaining, he enjoys Delta's company more each time they see each other, but he is surprised.

He's on time. Well, Delta seems to be making the effort, the least he can do is return the favor. Once he's inside, he removes his helmet and looks around. Common Ground is a good place, he's enjoyed it's coffee and food a fair few times, and of course it has the delicious, rich scent that comes with any good coffee shop.

Spotting Delta, he weaves through the tables towards him and sits down in the chair on the other side of the table, smiling. 'Hey there.'

"And your boyfriends?" Delta asks curiously.

'I only have one,' he says. 'I look out for him too.'

[protective_logic]

"You had boyfriends in teh past I'm assuming," Delta chuckles, shaking his head.

[depthlesslock]

'And girlfriends,' he admits. 'I look out for the people I care about, basically.'

[protective_logic]

"Oh, did I offend you with the assumption?"

Some people would be upset with that.

[depthlesslock]

'Not in the slightest,' he assures him, smiling. 'You've got enough on your mind as it is, my sexuality is hardly a priority.'

[protective_logic]

"Thanks," Delta smiles. He doesn't want to be caught up with that.

[depthlesslock]

'No problem,' he says, relieved that was resolved quickly and without awkwardness.

[protective_logic]

"The other thing I wanted to know, I guess.... do you need help managing finances?"

[depthlesslock]

'Not really,' he admits. 'I try to keep on top of it, sorry.'

[protective_logic]

"I was going to help out to pay you back for this," Delta admits.

[depthlesslock]

He shakes his head. 'Nuh uh, this is a favor. You don't owe me anything for this.'

[protective_logic]

"I want to pay you back," Delta sighs, but clearly this isn't an argument York intends to let him win.

[depthlesslock]

'Not happening, D,' he says. 'I don't charge my friends when they need help.'

[protective_logic]

"It's not charging. It's me helping out," Delta counters pointedly.

[depthlesslock]

'You don't owe me anything,' he insists. 'Besides, you said you hate accounting.'

[protective_logic]

"But it is all I have to offer," Delta sighs.

[depthlesslock]

'Delta,' he says gently. 'Please. I don't want anything in return.'

[protective_logic]

"And if it is part of my moral fabric to give you something in return for your assistance?" Delta counters. "Do you expect me to ignore what my whole being says is right?"

He sighs and runs one hand through his hair, then gets it back into rough shape.

'That meal,' he says. 'You said you'd cook me a meal. If you must, consider that your repayment.'

"Yeah," Delta sighs. Except that... was supposed to be about them and not this. York just doesn't get it. And there is no point in explaining.

[depthlesslock]

He still doesn't seem happy. 'What's wrong?'

[protective_logic]

"Nothing," Delta says. He's a master of bottling things up. "I'm just a bit tired again."

[depthlesslock]

He frowns slightly, unconvinced. 'D...'

[protective_logic]

"And I need to go out and buy some food," Delta notes, distracted.
