LOG: In Need of Assistance

York would be lying if he said he wasn't surprised that Delta had called him so soon to arrange to meet up again. That's three times in the last two weeks the man has called for company despite his insistence that he's a busy guy. Not that York's complaining, he enjoys Delta's company more each time they see each other, but he is surprised.

He's on time. Well, Delta seems to be making the effort, the least he can do is return the favor. Once he's inside, he removes his helmet and looks around. Common Ground is a good place, he's enjoyed it's coffee and food a fair few times, and of course it has the delicious, rich scent that comes with any good coffee shop.

Spotting Delta, he weaves through the tables towards him and sits down in the chair on the other side of the table, smiling. 'Hey there.'

"You're doing it," Delta repeats. "You make the mess you, clean it. My five year old siblings understand that."

'S'my house,' he grumbles, but he knows he's going to clean up anyway. Delta has what he suspects would be a very effective Mom voice when used at full force.

Not that York should ever, every say that to him. But Delta is a mother. To his family.

"Thanks," Delta answers, knowing York will listen.

'Yeah yeah,' he says, waving one hand, but he's smiling. This is a side to Delta he hasn't seen before, the homely side. It's interesting and... not exactly amusing, but it makes him feel happy to see it.

Having deemed the set-up passable for cooking, Delta returns to York's side. "Thank you for this space."

'You're welcome,' he says, opening the fridge and pulling the old carrots out and dumping them in the compost.

[protective_logic]

"Was that so hard?" Delta asks, but he stays away from the bin. He'll take that out later.

[depthlesslock]

He chuckles and shakes his head. 'You're a one, Delta,' he says good naturedly.

[protective_logic]

"One what?" Delta smiles, actively offering his hand to York this time.

[depthlesslock]

'One of a kind,' he says, smiling back as he takes the hand offered.

[protective_logic]

Delta blushes a little at the implied compliment. "I'm really not all that special."

[depthlesslock]

'I think you're pretty special.' The guy's been raising... what? Six siblings? with only his older brother. And he's given up nearly everything for them. That's pretty incredible.

[protective_logic]

"That's too kind," Delta smiles as he squeezes York's hand.

[depthlesslock]

'Just being honest,' he says, returning the squeeze. 'Shall I show you upstairs?'

[protective_logic]

"Of course," Delta smiles. "That is part of the four, isn't it?"

[depthlesslock]

'The four?' he repeats in confusion as he leads him out into the hall and up the stairs.

[protective_logic]

"Tour," Delta sighs. "Sorry. Still tired."

[depthlesslock]

'I'm not surprised,' he says as he pushes the door to the bedroom open. 'At least you'll have somewhere more comfy than the couch the sleep this time.'

[protective_logic]

"Well, I suppose I'll make use of the bed later," Delta chuckles, shaking his head.

[depthlesslock]

'Sleep is pretty essential.' He grins. 'Anyway, just across the hall is the bathroom and there's a spare bedroom at the end of the hall which just has random shit in there.'

[protective_logic]

"I won't bother it," Delta protests, because York's random stuff could be dangerous, he now knows."

[depthlesslock]

'Thanks. Also, I should warn you...' He rubs the back of his neck. 'There's... at least one weapon in every room. If you find any... just leave them alone.'

[protective_logic]

He freezes, even though it makes sense. He's scared by the prospect of that. Guns. It would be guns. He hates the idea of guns.

Delta pulls his hand away from York's and just wraps his arms around himself.

Fuck. Great job, York, you freaked him out again. That makes what? Three or four times today? Good going.

'Delta...' What is he even supposed to say. '...I can take them out?'

"They're supposed to be here," Delta points out.

He, of course, is not. But going is not something that will be allowed, so he isn't even going to mention it.
