LOG: In Need of Assistance

York would be lying if he said he wasn't surprised that Delta had called him so soon to arrange to meet up again. That's three times in the last two weeks the man has called for company despite his insistence that he's a busy guy. Not that York's complaining, he enjoys Delta's company more each time they see each other, but he is surprised.

He's on time. Well, Delta seems to be making the effort, the least he can do is return the favor. Once he's inside, he removes his helmet and looks around. Common Ground is a good place, he's enjoyed it's coffee and food a fair few times, and of course it has the delicious, rich scent that comes with any good coffee shop.

Spotting Delta, he weaves through the tables towards him and sits down in the chair on the other side of the table, smiling. 'Hey there.'

He wakes up nearly an hour later, the sleep being blinked from his eyes. And then, blushing, he jerks awake when he realizes where he is and that he was sleeping. Dammit. He fell asleep on York's couch, with York right there. Oh dear. What was he thinking?

York, trapped by Delta and not wanting to wake him, had turned the TV on, but put it on mute and just watched some random cooking show to pass the time. When Delta stirs, he looks down and smiles at him. Honestly, he was expecting the guy to sleep for longer.

'Hey there,' he says softly. 'How're you doing?'

"Worn," Delta admits softly. "Scared. Freaked. Did... God, am I actually here doing this?"

It wasn't a dream though. He shakes his head and reaches for his discarded glasses, shoving them into place. "Never mind. I... I don't really know what to do with myself anymore to be honest."

'Looks like it,' he says, giving the man a reassuring pat on the shoulder. 'You're gonna be okay, D.'

He shifts on the couch, getting a bit more comfy. 'Just take it a step at a time,' he advises. 'If you think about all of it, it's way more daunting than just the next bit.'

"I... you're probably right," Delta says very softly, but he still sounds a bit nervous. He knows he is. God, why is he so out of it? Probably because he should be. "I guess... I should ask you to actually show me around now."

[depthlesslock]

'If you're awake enough for it, then sure,' he agrees. Walking around might help wake him up anyway, or at least distract him a bit. Poor guy.

"I'm awake enough," Delta agrees. Walking around will also help him ignore his hunger.

[depthlesslock]

'Alright. Come on then.' He gets up and stretches, cracking his neck and then offering a hand to Delta.

[protective_logic]

A hand offered. Delta sees it as an offer of support as much as guidance, and he smiles as he takes it. "Yeah. that would be good. I should at least know the way around a place I'll be staying at for a little while."

'Probably a good plan.' He's sure Delta could find his own way around easily enough after a bit of exploring, but he might as well give him a tour anyway. Make him feel a bit more welcome.

"I mean, what will happen if I don't know where you keep towels?" Delta asks, chuckling.

[depthlesslock]

'You're resourceful, I'm sure you'd figure something out,' he says. 'But to make things easier, they're in the cupboard under the sink in the bathroom.'

[protective_logic]

"If you tell me, you aren't showing me," Delta laughs, shaking his head. "And I'm not going to drip dry."

[depthlesslock]

York laughs too and tugs on their joined hands. 'Come on then, smartie. Let's have the grand tour.'

[protective_logic]

"We'd already be on it if you weren't making silly comments about towels," Delta smiles and lets himself be pulled forward. He could use light hearted right now.

'Excuse me, you started that one,' he says, acting offended while grinning as he leads Delta through to the small kitchen.

The kitchen is actually less impressively equipped than the one at home, but the had slowly been building up an arsenal of used and worn pots that were what was needed to feed eight.

"I'm guessing you aren't big on food prep."

'I'm a really bad cook,' he admits, smiling ruefully and rubbing the back of his neck with his free hand. 'I can make rice, pasta, toast, beverages and cold food, but that's about it.'

[protective_logic]

"Maybe I'll cook for you sometime," Delta offers with a soft smile. "I may not make the best food, but I can make a lot of things."

[depthlesslock]

'Gotta be better than me,' he says chuckling. 'Sure, if you'd like. I've only got non-perishables in at the moment, but I can get you some fresh stuff easy enough. Just let me know what you need. ...And that's for you in general, not just a possible meal for the two of us.'

[protective_logic]

"What? No," Delta dismisses. "You can't do that!"

[depthlesslock]

'Why not?' he asks. 'You kind of need the food.'

[protective_logic]

"You can't... I... I'm supposed to be supporting myself. This is already so much."

Does York forget that this is about proving he can do it for himself.

[depthlesslock]

'Not even to get you started? You said you barely have any money, this would just be enough to last a couple of days.' He's not going to make sure his boyfriend has a roof over his head only for him to starve.

[protective_logic]

"Oh," he says. That's a good point. "I guess... I do need help until I find a better job."
